Want to Sell: Allen Continuo Plus digital harpsichord w/MIDI | |
Category: Electronic Organs and Parts | Allen Continuo Plus digital harpsichord, probably manufactured in the 1990s. There is little to no information about these models on the internet; even the Allen organ company, when I contacted them, shrugged their shoulders, and referred me to a pamphlet for an entirely different model. This instrument is digital, and has no strings or quills. It has nine built-in sounds, as can be seen in the photos, each selectable by a stop, and only one at a time. The harpsichord settings have an aftertouch, where the sound of the quill resetting can be heard. All keys and functions work. The sounds are all very realistic, and the volume of the internal amplifier is plenty to fill a room or to play with acoustic instruments. In my limited experience, it’s certainly louder than a regular harpsichord! There is a knee lever, which is actually a sustain feature. It is detachable for transportation, and connects to the circuit via a 1/4” jack. I imagine a standard sustain pedal could be used instead, like you’d see with a modern keyboard. The legs are also detachable and are painted gold. If more volume is needed, there is an RCA jack on the underside, and I picked up a couple of RCA to 1/4” cables, to be able to plug in to an amp or PA system for more volume. They’re Mogami cables, and I’ll throw them in. MIDI in/out/thru, for expanding in to more sounds digitally! Moving this along as I need the space. It is indeed a lovely centerpiece for the sitting room of a baroque enthusiast. Roland made similar model digital harpsichords, long discontinued, and there’s one for sale at the time of this writing for more than my asking price, plus a LOT to ship it. Also, as I said before, these are rare as hen’s teeth. I will consider offers, or trades: a Rickenbacker guitar or bass; Vox amps; a Crumar Mojo Suitcase Double Manual Organ with reverse keys; a Gibson GA-79 amp or J-100 acoustic; a modern Leslie like a Model 3300; and so on. Open to suggestions, but cash is best. I can deliver within 100 miles of Atlanta, GA, but I may ask for a couple of bucks for fuel if it’s far. Sorry, no shipping. Write with any questions, and thank you! |
